What do you see as the main points that differentiate ASV Law from your competitors?

With us it is about being very tough, thorough, committed and fair. Going the distance and being laser focused have always been the foundation of our reputation. We are very selective when accepting instructions. We compete with the best in show but have managed to retain the flexibility required to react fast. Once we accept instructions, we move swiftly and decisively to deliver. Our Clients want to know they are getting the best legal advice, factually based and wit the strategy associated to it delivered succinctly and direct; they don’t have time for anything else. We have excellent relationships and strategic alliances with some of the leading experts around the world, including legal expertise in other jurisdictions. Clients have our undivided attention.

Which practices do you see growing in the next 12 months? What are the drivers behind that?

Certainly, cross border litigation is on the rise and so for pre contentious investigations, assets consolidation and corporate insolvency. This is mainly due to a series of factors and the effect of Brexit, COVID and the cost of money are important elements of it. At a different level, there will be the inevitable consequences over employment with a number of companies making redundancies and even, possibly, failing themselves. With challenges come new ideas and opportunities. It is the way it has always been and we hope for the next 12 months to be any different!

What’s the main change you’ve made in the firm that will benefit clients?

ASV Law is a sleek, lean operation which adjusts according to client’s needs and situation. Compared to other top firms we are a much younger structure as we established in 2011. As such, we are always looking for the next best opportunity to improve where possible. Our strategic alliances partners for example have showed a refreshing way to address some matters creating a faster and more efficient response time than the one of similar size firms UK centric. One never ceases to learn, and that requires the humility to accept and embrace change when change is needed. Our own multi-jurisdictional qualification and the fluidity the team enjoys, the cloud-based case management system we use means our clients have direct access to their lawyer and their case progresses at all time.

Is technology changing the way you interact with your clients, and the services you can provide them?

We love to embrace progressive technology provided the service levels does not changed and remain extremely high. The interaction with clients through remote means, in some ways, has become more efficient and focused. The elite global clients that seek out ASV Law because of our reputation are clients whose time is extremely valuable so appreciate their legal advisors to be highly skilled, knowledgeable and to the point. Technology assists massively to facilitate the speed of communication, reach and exchanges. As multi-jurisdictional and international based set, technology has facilitated the reach to clients in areas where it would have been difficult for a firm our size to compete efficiently and to the required standard. 2

Can you give us a practical example of how you have helped a client to add value to their business?

ASV created a strategy that allowed our client to maintain the key points of multiple contracts they wished to enter but also secured them significant savings and the ability to generate much greater revenue. Another client was facing a multi-million pound claim against them and because of the tactical and strategic approach we adopted in advance and during proceedings the matter ended with the opposing side paying a significant sum of money to our client.

Are clients looking for stability and strategic direction from their law firms – where do you see the firm in three year’s time?

The elite clients who want to work with ASV Law, and come back time and again, do so because of the consistently intelligent appropriate advice we deliver. However, we are not the type of firm that likes to sit in the client’s books and be all service. We like what we do, and we do it well. Once done we like to move on. If needed again, we are happy to come back if we can really add value. We know our clients want the solution which is what we provide; to time and to price. We don’t just look at the issue in front of us but the wider impact and position and provide strategic and future-proofing guidance. Most of the high profile cases we are involved with have lasting multi years impact, so we may be called in to assist here and there and keep things on track.
